Newly released documents from the Jeffrey Epstein case include photographs of Peter Mandelson, the former UK ambassador to the US and Labour Party figure, in his underwear at Epstein's home. The images, part of a broader trove of files, show Mandelson standing next to a woman in a white bathrobe, though his face is not visible. A source close to Mandelson stated he has no recollection of the photograph being taken.
The files also reveal that Epstein sent £36,500 to Mandelson in 2004 and £10,000 to Mandelson’s husband, Reinaldo Avila da Silva, in 2009 for an osteopathy course. Da Silva, who was Mandelson’s partner at the time, requested the funds via email, and Epstein confirmed the transfer shortly after his release from prison on child sex offenses.
Mandelson, who was dismissed as UK ambassador to the US in September 2023 over his ties to Epstein, has consistently denied any wrongdoing and claimed ignorance of Epstein’s crimes. The new revelations have reignited calls for Mandelson to be stripped of his peerage, though no formal action has been taken.
The Epstein files, released by the US Justice Department, include three million documents related to the financier’s activities. The photographs and financial transactions are among the latest details to emerge from the ongoing review of Epstein’s associates and dealings.
