The Illinois Lottery confirmed the winning ticket was sold at the Hy-Vee location in Quincy, a city approximately 100 miles west of Springfield along the Missouri border. The winning numbers were 4-26-66-67-69 with a Powerball of 9, and the Power Play multiplier was 2x.
The jackpot resets to $20 million for the next drawing, scheduled for Aug. 15, 2026. Officials noted that the prize can be claimed as an annuity of $1 billion paid over 29 years or as a lump-sum payment of $450.5 million, with most winners opting for the latter. The Illinois Lottery has not disclosed whether the winner has come forward.
The drawing marked the first Powerball jackpot win since May 2, 2026, when the top prize was $20 million. The $1.04 billion prize is the eighth-largest in Powerball history, according to game organizers. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292 million, with each play costing $2.
Four additional tickets matched five numbers but missed the Powerball, each winning $1 million. These tickets were sold in Arizona, California, Florida, and North Carolina. A Massachusetts ticket matched five numbers and the Power Play multiplier, securing a $2 million prize. More than 3 million tickets won lesser cash prizes across the drawing.
Powerball officials highlighted the game’s long-standing structure, noting that a winning ticket can be sold anywhere the game is played. Stephen Durrell, chair of the Powerball Product Group and executive director of the Kansas Lottery, stated, “For more than three decades, Powerball has shown that a winning ticket can be sold anywhere the game is played, giving every $2 ticket the chance to change not only a winner’s life, but generations to come.”
