Two individuals were arrested following the search of a 2025 Honda CR-V, which was stopped by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) canine officer for an alleged traffic violation. The driver was booked into the Merced County Main Jail on charges of possession of cocaine for sale and transportation of cocaine across non-contiguous counties, according to authorities.
The Merced Area Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) is leading the investigation into the incident.
Details of the Seizure
During the traffic stop, the CHP officer identified several indicators of possible criminal activity, prompting a search of the vehicle. A subsequent search allegedly uncovered a bag containing approximately 30 pounds of suspected cocaine, with authorities estimating its street value at $817,200.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was arrested and remains in custody. No additional details about the second suspect have been provided.
